Name: Nocternal

Concept: This game is about a former Vampire Hunter who is captured, blinded, and imprisoned by his former order for protecting a vampire child.  He gets bitten by a vampire, allowing him to "see" with echolocation.  He must use his former skills as a vampire hunter combined with his new abilities as a vampire to escape and take down the order of vampire hunters

Team: The team consists of two people.  I will be the main artist, programmer, designer, etc..., and a second person is doing music composition and providing feedback and assistance with design and art.

Scope: The game (for the purposes of the jam) will consist of a title screen/menu, one cutscene to start the game, an introductory area to teach the gameplay and practice the basics (about 10 small rooms) and one boss fight.

Gameplay: The game will play as a stealth platformer.  Combat will consist largely of stealth takedowns and using sound and stealth to map out a room using echolocation.  Rooms will be visitable multiple times in a Metroidvania fashion.

Art: Art will be mainly focused on visually representing sounds.  Rooms will be completely dark when entered except immediately around the player.  Use of sounds (screaming, throwing things) will allow the room to be "lit up" using sound.  As such, the style will be a simple pixel art style largely focused on outlines of things in simple colors.  The focus will be on dynamic movement and action with simple pixelart outlines.

Music: Music will be focused largely on dark atmospheric music with a more intense boss fight song.
